Jason by Laurell K Hamilton
I've been a reader of Laurell K Hamilton since middle school when I first found Guilty Pleasures at a garage sale. I've since read every book she's written loyally. However, Jason, I am not a fan of. I like the character, but the book....
I first was intrigued by the main character Anita Blake. A vampire hunter in a world where vampires are legal citizens and have rights, so how can these conflicting ideas exist? It would be murder to hunt a vampire right? I was pulled in by the plot and complexity of Anita, and found I related to her. The insecurity, the false toughness, the stubbornness beyond belief.
The plot line was entertaining, the tension, both sexual and otherwise was entrancing.
But after about the 7th book in the series, everything started becoming too sexual for me. Her series about Meredith, is almost all sexual in nature, and frankly it is not my cup of tea, though I still read it for the plotline and magic, fiction has always intrigued me.
But this latest, Jason, is all sex. Basically the entire book is sex, referencing sex, talking about sex, inuendos and more sex. I want more to my books that I read than that. I want more about the characters, and something should happen in them other than the main character getting laid. My attention simply will not be held by just sex for more than a page or two.
I'm sorry Laurell, but for Jason I'm not a big fan.
